Family Tree

It is intended that the family tree be presented in graphic form. This will happen when suitable software has been located. For now, the following are Stan’s notes regarding the family tree
Barb’s and Stan’s Early Forebears. eg Alex data
(Getting to AU must have been a major and dangerous journey and change in their lives. Many persons died and many ships lost especially around SE AU. Took a lot of guts to leave but showed desire to improve and the initiative and willingness to take risks.
Legend is Ambroses were associated with Amboise in France before French Revolution. Olwyne may add – has stained glass circular window ex? Alex has Stan DNA results with slim chance from France but Dr Ng at N. Epping noted I had a Viking syndrome in my right hand. Amboise is near Normandy named after northmen ie Vikings)
2.2 B Grand parents -4, Name, b date @ m who date @ d@ of bu @

Grandfathers: James Howse b 18??
Carl Julius Mierisch b 18?? Old style gardener from Saxony, S Germany. Many siblings
2.3 B Mum and Dad. Ditto (Had WWI. Spanish flu Great Depression WW II)
DAD. “Jim”, Jules George (on Barb’s Register of Death), or Julius Alexander
(on B&S marriage certificate) -Mierisch b 1/5/1889 @? m ? d. 3/9/1967@ Royal Park Hospital, Melbourne. Siblings: “member of a very large family of good, honest, religious and dour people who reflected the ways of a Scottish mother and an old style gardener from Saxony S. Germany. #G”. Brother Jack married Rose Hollingsworth. (in 1947 caretaker @ Ormond College, UOMelbourne, nice and old, gave me some drawing paper and an old drawing board)
Another brother was George, married to Jessie, was a “liberal” who acted like the family head, lived out Camberwell area and was not happy at me being “socialistic” at 21. His children were Gordon, Melita, Charlie and Alan.
Another sibling was Annie Job,married to Andrew Job, died in 1933 and had c Albert, Nancy, and Bell
(I have a large tin transport trunk nearly a meter long and a bit battered with its latch
stamped JFM, almost certainly used in emigration to AU and Julius Franz/Fredrick? Mierisch born in ? @? Germany).
Geoff [1] indicates his dad was not a good guy. He had a slightly longer nose than normal, and was tall and well built. Stan initially felt neutral to him but lost much respect when seeing another lady before his wife died. However he had a trying tough life – WW I, Spanish Flu, not compatible with wife, raised 4 kids in Great Depression when out of work for some time. His jobs probably were not the status he would like.
He advised me on the tools I would need at Heathmont, and told me an old saying about the tree near where Barb and I slept: “A woman, a dog and a walnut tree, the harder you beat them the better they be.” I took the first advice and never hit Barb and rarely the boys.
MUM. Evelyn Ellen Bernice Howse b 21/8/1891 @ ? m ? d 8?/1963 @ Coburg
. “She was very intelligent, a good pianist and had produced some better than average paintings. She was strongly attached to her parents and suffered greatly at age 14 when her mother died a sad and painful death. She lived with her father and grandfather in Moreland and was unhappy when his father wished to remarry so much so that her father delayed this action until mother finally agreed to his wish. This in itself seems to indicate a degree of passion which continued to show throughout her life. [1] .”
“We joined the church of St Michaels in N Carlton and I was in the choir as well as being a student at both morning and afternoon Sunday school. Our home was only two doors from the church so I am imagine Mother’s religious nature saw to it that we took advantage of it’s proximity. Later we attended Saint Augustine‘s Church in Davies St., Moreland. Mother had belonged to this church in her younger days and Ruth was married there.”[1]
Stan was neutral, she was tall, had Bell’s palsey, was sickly, and very pro King & Queen; and not happy with Stan and some mates with different views.
